CNN —Igor Girkin, a prominent Russian pro-war blogger who criticized President Vladimir Putin’s handling of the war on Ukraine, has been found guilty on extremism charges and sentenced to four years in prison by a Moscow court. Moscow City Court convicted Girkin, also known under his pseudonym, Strelkov, of inciting extremism – a charge he denied. Girkin was an influential blogger and critic of Putin. The court in 2022 found Girkin guilty of mass murder for his role in the incident and he was sentenced in absentia to life in prison. A lot has changed in the four years since one of the aviation industry's biggest air shows was held in person. The question is whether Boeing , Airbus and their numerous suppliers can catch up. Over the past year, Boeing has logged large orders or preliminary agreements from customers including United Airlines , Saudia and new Saudi carrier Riyadh Air. Air India's massive order earlier this year included both Boeing and Airbus jets.

REUTERS/Antonio Bronic/File PhotoJune 12 - Lawyers for Ukraine at the top U.N. court on Monday rejected Russia's account of the downing of a Malaysian airliner as a "rambling conspiracy theory", in a case alleging Moscow backed separatists in eastern Ukraine in 2014. Last week, in hearings before the International Court of Justice, also known as the World Court, Russia said Ukraine's MH17 case was based on "nonsense" and offered a host of alternative explanations for what happened. Kyiv has asked the court to find Moscow guilty of breaching its treaty obligations and order it to pay reparations. The World Court case stems from 2017 and was filed well before Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. The International Court of Justice is expected to rule on the case before the end of this year.

Hong Kong CNN —A comedian in New York who joked about the safety of Malaysian planes in an apparent reference to the disappearance of flight MH370 has sparked a heated backlash in Malaysia and Singapore. Controversy over the joke by lawyer-turned comedian Jocelyn Chia at Manhattan’s Comedy Cellar erupted soon after a short clip of her stand-up performance was posted online earlier this week. Chia’s bit had centered on the uneasy past between Singapore and Malaysia, which were once part of the same country. An air safety expert did not exclude it could be a part of the Malaysia Airlines flight MH370. “(Chia) does not in any way reflect our views,” he added.
